Intent to use:
Human Cytomegalovirus (HCMV), or Human Betaherpesvirus 5 (HHV-5), belongs to the Herpesviridae family, specifically the Betaherpesvirinae subfamily. CMV is a common virus that can cause mild symptoms such as fever, fatigue, and swollen glands, but it is particularly dangerous for immunocompromised individuals, including organ transplant recipients and people with HIV/AIDS, where it can lead to severe conditions like pneumonia and organ failure. In pregnant women, CMV infection can result in congenital CMV, leading to serious birth defects like hearing loss, vision problems, and developmental delays. The DiAGSure® CMV Quantitative PCR Kit enables precise quantification of CMV DNA, providing reliable viral load measurements for monitoring active infections and evaluating treatment efficacy. It helps in the accurate tracking of CMV progression for informed clinical decision-making.
