Intent to use:
Neisseria meningitidis is a major cause of bacterial meningitis and septicemia worldwide, particularly affecting infants, adolescents, and young adults. The infection has a rapid onset and can progress to life-threatening complications such as shock, disseminated intravascular coagulation, and multi-organ failure if not diagnosed and treated promptly. Common symptoms include high fever, headache, neck stiffness, photophobia, nausea, and altered mental status. In some cases, a purpuric rash may also develop. Early identification of the pathogen is critical for initiating appropriate antibiotic therapy, preventing outbreaks, and reducing morbidity and mortality.
