Adenoviruses (HAdVs) are non-enveloped, double-stranded DNA viruses from the Adenoviridae family, with 51 serotypes across seven species (A-G). Enteric adenoviruses, particularly types 40 and 41 (HAdV-F), are a major cause of gastroenteritis in children under 2 years old, presenting symptoms such as watery diarrhea, vomiting, fever, and dehydration. These viruses are transmitted via the fecal-oral route and are the second leading cause of childhood diarrhea after rotaviruses. The DiAGSure® Human Adenovirus quantitative Taqman PCR Kit is a quantitative diagnostic tool that detects adenovirus infections with high sensitivity and accuracy.
