Intent to use:
Hepatitis C is a liver disease caused by the hepatitis C virus (HCV), a blood borne virus from the Flaviviridae family. It is often asymptomatic in the acute phase, with about 80% of infections becoming chronic, leading to serious outcomes like cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Transmission occurs through infected blood, often via unsafe injections, transfusions, or sexual contact. HCV has six genotypes; genotype 1 is more aggressive and less responsive to interferon therapy than genotypes 2 or 3. No vaccine exists, and treatment responses vary. The DiAGSure™ HCV Viral Load Kit uses quantitative fluorescence RT-PCR to detect HCV RNA with a sensitivity of 15 IU/ml, aiding early diagnosis, treatment monitoring, and reducing long-term liver complications.
