Intent to Use:
Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), or human herpesvirus 4, is a widespread member of the Herpesviridae family, infecting over 90% of children under 4 years. EBV primarily causes infectious mononucleosis, with symptoms like fever, sore throat, swollen lymph nodes, and fatigue. In children, it can also lead to chronic active EBV infection, EBV-associated hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis, and X-linked lymphoproliferative syndrome. The virus establishes lifelong latency in B lymphocytes and may reactivate, especially in immunocompromised individuals, causing severe complications. Classified as a Group 1 carcinogen, EBV is linked to cancers including Hodgkin lymphoma, Burkitt lymphoma, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, NK/T-cell lymphoma, and some gastric cancers. The DiAGSure® EBV Quantitative Kit offers sensitive, precise real-time PCR quantification of EBV DNA from clinical samples. Accurate viral load measurement aids diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment—particularly in transplant and immunosuppressed patients—supporting timely clinical management and improved outcomes.
