Intent to use:
Norovirus and Rotavirus are leading causes of acute viral gastroenteritis, affecting individuals of all ages, particularly young children. Norovirus, a non-enveloped, single-stranded RNA virus from the Caliciviridae family, is highly contagious and spreads via the fecal-oral route through contaminated food, water, surfaces, or person-to-person contact. It causes sudden-onset watery diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, and low-grade fever. Genogroups GI and GII are most common in humans, with GII.4 responsible for the majority of outbreaks. Rotavirus, a double-stranded RNA virus of the Reoviridae family, primarily affects children under five and is transmitted similarly. It infects the small intestine, leading to profuse watery diarrhoea, vomiting, fever, dehydration, and sometimes severe electrolyte imbalance. Group A Rotavirus (RVA) accounts for over 90% of human infections.
