Intended Use:
Human Herpesviruses 6 and 7 (HHV-6 and HHV-7) are widespread viruses that typically infect individuals in early childhood. They are the primary cause of roseola infantum (sixth disease), characterized by high fever followed by a sudden rash. While often self-limiting, these viruses can reactivate in immunocompromised individuals, leading to severe complications such as encephalitis, pneumonitis, hepatitis, bone marrow suppression, and graft rejection—particularly in transplant recipients. Co-infection with both viruses may further complicate clinical outcomes. Early and accurate detection is essential for guiding treatment and monitoring high-risk patients. The DiAGSure® HHV-6/7 Multiplex PCR Kit is a highly sensitive and specific real-time PCR assay that enables simultaneous detection of HHV-6 and HHV-7 DNA.
