Intent to use:
The DiAGSure® Pneumocystis Detection Kit is a real-time PCR assay developed for the specific detection of Pneumocystis jirovecii, the opportunistic fungal pathogen responsible for Pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP). This potentially life-threatening infection primarily affects immunocompromised individuals, including those with HIV/AIDS, cancer patients receiving chemotherapy, transplant recipients, and individuals on prolonged immunosuppressive therapy. PCP is characterized by symptoms such as progressive shortness of breath, dry cough, and fever, which are often nonspecific and overlap with other respiratory infections.
